How to use the TikTok Shop Fee Calculator
- Enter the sold price: what the buyer paid for the item after your own discounts, before shipping and tax. If TikTok funded a discount, enter the price before it; the referral fee is charged as if the buyer paid it.
- Enter the shipping the buyer paid, and your label cost as your shipping cost, whether TikTok Shipping deducts it from your settlement or you buy it yourself.

TikTok Shop seller fees in 2026
When an order is completed, a US seller pays one referral fee, which TikTok says covers all TikTok Shop fees except shipping and tax: 6% in most categories since April 1, 2024, and 5% in Pre-Owned and five fine-jewelry sub-categories. It is charged on what the buyer paid, including shipping, plus any TikTok-funded discount, less sales tax. If a creator’s content made the sale, their affiliate commission comes on top.

Referral fee rates by category
TikTok publishes one rate for each first- and second-level category. Almost all of them are 6%; these are the exceptions, and the calculator’s category setting follows them:

The lower rate only applies above the break: a $12,000 trading card in Collectibles pays 6% on the first $10,000 and 3% on the rest, $660.00 instead of $720.00.
Worked example: $85.00 pre-owned sneakers
You sell a pair of pre-owned sneakers that cost you $30.00 for $85.00 through a creator’s video, with a 10% affiliate commission. The buyer pays $7.00 shipping and your label costs the same. These are the numbers the calculator above starts with:

TikTok keeps $4.60, 5% of the $92.00 the buyer paid for the sneakers and shipping, and the creator earns $8.50, 10% of the $85.00 item price only. Your settlement before the label is $78.90; after the $7.00 label and the $30.00 the sneakers cost you, your profit is $41.90, a 45.5% margin on what the buyer paid before tax. Selling them from your own video instead would leave $50.40. If the order were refunded, TikTok would keep a $0.92 refund administration fee.
What TikTok Shop’s fees are charged on
- Completed orders only. The referral fee is charged on orders that were paid and delivered. A fully refunded order has no referral fee, but TikTok keeps the refund administration fee.
- Buyer-paid shipping. TikTok’s formula starts from what the buyer paid and takes out only tax, so the shipping the buyer paid carries the referral fee too: $0.42 on $7.00 of shipping at 6%. That shipping is credited to you.
- TikTok-funded discounts. A platform discount is added back before the fee, so you pay the referral fee on the full price even though the buyer paid less.
- Your own discounts. A seller discount lowers what the buyer pays, and with it both the referral fee and the creator’s commission.
- Sales tax. Taken out before the referral fee and never part of the creator’s commission.
How to pay less in TikTok Shop fees
- List used items in Pre-Owned. Pre-Owned sub-categories pay 5% instead of 6%, and 3% above $10,000.
- Try Seller LIVE Auctions in Q4 2026. From October 1 to December 31, 2026 (Pacific time), qualified auction orders with a $1.00 starting bid pay a 4% referral fee for eligible new auction sellers, and 3% on high-value orders ($1,500 for jewelry, $500 in other targeted categories) for eligible existing auction sellers, up to $400,000 of auction sales a week. No registration is needed; regular LIVE orders don’t qualify.
- Price creator commission deliberately. It can be the biggest fee on a sale: on the example above the creator earned $8.50 against TikTok’s $4.60.
- Cut refunds and cancellations. Each refunded SKU costs up to $5.00 in refund administration fees on top of the lost sale.
- Join campaigns with the fee in mind. Campaign service fees apply only to products you register for a Standard Registration or Flash Sale campaign, at the rate shown in that campaign’s fee policy, and are charged on the price after your discount plus buyer-paid shipping.
TikTok Shop fee changes
- : Seller LIVE Auction referral fee reduction through December 31, 2026: 4% for eligible new auction sellers, 3% on high-value orders for eligible existing auction sellers.
- : TikTok began collecting sales tax on referral fees from sellers whose business registration address is in Texas or West Virginia.

How much does TikTok Shop take from a sale?
A referral fee of 6% in most categories (5% in Pre-Owned and five fine-jewelry sub-categories) on the item price plus the shipping the buyer paid, plus the creator’s commission if a creator made the sale. A $40.00 item with $7.00 shipping costs $2.82 in fees.
Does TikTok Shop charge a payment processing or per-order fee?
No. TikTok defines its referral fee as covering all TikTok Shop fees except shipping and tax, so there is no separate payment processing fee and no fixed fee per order. The old transaction fee, $0.30 per order plus a percentage, applied only to orders placed before April 3, 2023.
Does TikTok Shop charge fees on shipping?
The referral fee, yes: it is charged on what the buyer paid, including shipping, less tax, so $7.00 of buyer-paid shipping adds $0.42 to the fee in most categories. Creator commission, no: it is charged on the item price after your discount only.
How is the TikTok Shop affiliate commission calculated?
The rate you set for creators times the product price excluding tax, less your seller discount. It is only charged when a creator’s video or LIVE made the sale, and it comes on top of the referral fee: a 10% commission on the $85.00 sneakers below is $8.50.
What does TikTok Shop keep when an order is refunded?
It refunds the referral fee less a refund administration fee of 20% of that fee, capped at $5.00 per SKU since May 15, 2025. On a $10.00 item at 6% that is $0.12; on a $500.00 item it would be $6.00, so the cap brings it down to $5.00. There is no refund administration fee on “buy now, refund later” creator sample orders, or on a refund the buyer requests before shipping that meets the auto-cancel criteria.
What should I list at on TikTok Shop?
Use “What should I list it at?” in the calculator. For $20.00 profit on an item that cost you $10.00, with free shipping and a $5.00 label, list at $37.23 in a 6% category, or $41.67 if a creator earns 10% commission on it.
When does TikTok Shop pay you?
TikTok settles an order after it is delivered, as long as no refund or return request is being processed, and pays out to your bank account automatically once the payment threshold of $1 is met.
