How to use the Reverb Fee Calculator
- Enter the sold price: your listing price or the offer you accepted.
- Enter the shipping the buyer paid, and what your label cost you, whether you bought it on Reverb or from the carrier. For free shipping, leave the buyer’s shipping at 0 and enter only the label.
- Set the buyer’s sales tax rate, your payment processing rate and your Bump rate if the listing was Bumped. Switch on “Buyer in another country” for an international sale.
- Enter what the gear cost you, then read your fees, payout and profit, or enter the profit you want to see the lowest price to list at.
Reverb seller fees in 2026
Listing gear on Reverb is free, and so is ending a listing that hasn’t sold. When it sells, a US seller pays two fees on every order: a 5% selling fee on the item price plus shipping, and 3.19% + $0.49 payment processing on the order total, including shipping and the sales tax the buyer pays. Both come out of your payout, along with any Bump fee and a label you bought on Reverb.
| Fee | Rate | Charged on |
|---|---|---|
| Listing | Free | Creating a listing, or removing one that hasn’t sold |
| Selling fee | 5%, at least $0.50 and at most $500.00 | The item price plus shipping; never the sales tax |
| Payment processing | 3.19% + $0.49 per order | The order total: item, shipping and sales tax |
| Payment processing, Reverb Preferred Seller | 2.99% + $0.49 per order | The same order total; the program is not taking new sellers |
| Bump | The rate you choose, up to 30% | The item price plus shipping, not tax; only if the Bumped listing sells |
| Cross-border fee | An extra 1% | Orders from a buyer whose billing address is in another country |
| Currency conversion | 2.5% | Your payout after processing, only if you list in a different currency from your payout |
| Reverb shipping label | The label price | Deducted from your earnings; extra labels on the same order go on your monthly bill |
The $0.50 minimum and the $500.00 cap
The selling fee never drops below $0.50, so on sales under $10.00 it is more than 5%. It also never goes above $500.00, which it reaches at a $10,000.00 sale, so on high-end gear the rate falls. Reverb’s own example: a $15,000.00 guitar pays $500.00 instead of $750.00. The cap is on the selling fee only; payment processing on that $15,000.00 order is still $478.99 before tax.
| Sale amount | Selling fee | Share of the sale |
|---|---|---|
| $8.00 | $0.50 | 6.3% |
| $100.00 | $5.00 | 5.0% |
| $1,000.00 | $50.00 | 5.0% |
| $10,000.00 | $500.00 | 5.0% |
| $15,000.00 | $500.00 | 3.3% |
| $25,000.00 | $500.00 | 2.0% |
Worked example: a $600.00 used guitar
You sell a used electric guitar that cost you $350.00 for $600.00. The buyer pays $40.00 shipping and 6% sales tax, and your label costs $40.00. These are the numbers the calculator above starts with:
| Sold price | $600.00 |
|---|---|
| Shipping charged to buyer | +$40.00 |
| Selling fee (5% of $640.00: item price + shipping) | −$32.00 |
| Payment processing (3.19% + $0.49 on the $678.40 order total, incl. $38.40 sales tax) | −$22.13 |
| Payout from Reverb | $585.87 |
| Your shipping cost | −$40.00 |
| Item cost | −$350.00 |
| Profit | $195.87 |
Reverb’s selling fee is $32.00, 5% of the $640.00 guitar and shipping. Payment processing is $22.13: 3.19% of the order total including the buyer’s sales tax, plus $0.49. That leaves a payout of $585.87, and after the guitar and the label a profit of $195.87: a 30.6% margin on the $640.00 the buyer paid before tax. If you buy the label on Reverb, it is taken from your earnings, so Reverb deposits $545.87; the profit is the same.
Bump, Preferred Seller and international sales
The same guitar sale with each of the calculator’s settings changed:
| Sale | Reverb fees | Payout | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|
| As above | $54.13 | $585.87 | $195.87 |
| Bumped at 4.5% | $82.93 | $557.07 | $167.07 |
| Bumped at 10% | $118.13 | $521.87 | $131.87 |
| Reverb Preferred Seller | $52.77 | $587.23 | $197.23 |
| Buyer in another country, no sales tax | $59.31 | $580.69 | $190.69 |
Reverb’s standard recommended Bump rate is typically 4.5%, which costs $28.80 on this sale, and you pay it only if the Bumped listing sells. A Reverb Preferred Seller saves $1.36 in processing. A buyer abroad adds the 1% cross-border fee; Reverb collects US sales tax only on orders shipped to US states, so the row has none.
What Reverb’s fees are charged on
- The item price and shipping. The selling fee is charged on the total sale amount including shipping, and so is a Bump fee.
- Sales tax, for processing only. Reverb collects and remits sales tax on orders shipped to most US states (none to Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire or Oregon), and charges no selling fee on it. Payment processing, though, is charged on the full order total, tax included.
- Every order, whatever the buyer pays with. Card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Affirm or Reverb credits: with Reverb Payments the processing fee is the same. Sellers still paid through PayPal are charged PayPal’s own processing fee by PayPal.
- An offer, not the asking price. Fees follow the price the gear sold for. A Bumped listing sold through an offer pays the Bump rate set when the offer was made, and a brand new listing sold through a Direct Offer pays at most 1.5%.
- Shipping labels. A Reverb label comes out of your earnings. Labels aren’t available for gear selling for $10,000.00 or more, and from $1,500.00 a Reverb label requires Safe Shipping.
How to pay less in Reverb fees
- Bump on purpose. Every point of Bump is a point of the item price plus shipping, up to 30%. Check Auto-Bump rules, which can Bump listings you didn’t pick by hand.
- Price shipping to cover the label and its fees. The selling fee and processing apply to shipping too, so charging exactly the label price leaves you short by the fees on it.
- List in the currency you are paid in. That avoids the 2.5% currency conversion fee.
- Let buyers request their own refunds. Returns and cancellations through the buyer’s refund request tool don’t count toward the 5 seller-initiated refunds a month after which processing fees are kept.
Reverb fee changes
- : sellers paid through PayPal moved to the Reverb Payments timeline. For PayPal orders from this date, Reverb’s fees come out of the payout instead of being billed to your card on the first of the next month, and payment is released only once you add tracking.
- : payment processing fees stopped being refunded on seller-initiated cancellations and full refunds beyond 5 a month.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Reverb take from a sale?
A 5% selling fee on the item price plus shipping, and 3.19% + $0.49 payment processing on the order total, sales tax included. On a $600.00 guitar with $40.00 shipping and 6% sales tax that is $54.13, or 8.5% of the $640.00 sale.
Does Reverb charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The selling fee, payment processing and any Bump fee are all charged on the shipping the buyer pays, so $40.00 of shipping adds $3.28 to your fees before tax. Reverb pays that shipping out to you with the sale, and you buy the label.
Is there a maximum Reverb fee?
The selling fee stops at $500.00, which it reaches at a $10,000.00 sale. Reverb’s own example is a $15,000.00 guitar that pays $500.00 instead of $750.00. The cap is on the selling fee: processing on a $15,000.00 order is still $478.99 before tax.
Does Reverb charge fees on sales tax?
Not the selling fee or Bump. Payment processing is charged on the whole order, including the sales tax the buyer pays, even though Reverb sends that tax to the state: 6% tax on the $640.00 guitar sale adds $1.22 to processing.
What are Reverb’s fees for selling to another country?
An extra 1% cross-border fee when the buyer’s billing address is outside the US, on top of the usual fees. If you list in a different currency from the one you are paid in, a 2.5% currency conversion fee is taken from your payout too.
Does Reverb refund its fees if I refund an order?
On a full refund you get back the 5% selling fee, payment processing and any Bump fee, except that processing is kept on seller-initiated cancellations and refunds beyond 5 a month. On a partial refund only the selling fee comes back, in proportion to the refund. A label you bought on Reverb is still yours to pay.
What should I list at on Reverb?
Use “What should I list it at?” in the calculator. For $100.00 profit on the guitar above (cost $350.00, $40.00 label), list at $495.36 if the buyer pays $40.00 shipping, or $535.36 with free shipping. Fees are charged on the price the gear sells for, so leave room for offers.
